Jared Jed Kruger

Jared Kruger, also known as Jed, is a South African marine artist celebrated for his expressive contemporary artworks inspired by the ocean and its inhabitants.

With a lifelong connection to the sea, Jared’s work captures the movement, depth and emotion of underwater environments. He has exhibited across South Africa and internationally, with collectors in the UK, South Africa and the USA.

Jared has also contributed detailed scientific illustrations to ABALOBI – an innovative platform supporting sustainable fishing by connecting small-scale fishers directly to markets. This collaboration was shortlisted for the 2023 Earthshot Prize, reflecting his commitment to marine conservation and environmental awareness.

Blending elements of marine art, contemporary abstract painting and scientific illustration, Jared creates vibrant, textured works that immerse the viewer in the sensory experience of being in the water. His innovative use of materials builds layered surfaces that echo the rhythm and energy of the ocean.
